Is your Blog slowing down due to MyBlogLog Termination?

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIpK42JPZw3VbhEBdPWoTuq0MKb554FVGeB09a_a_PEJulRN7jEwWkZwl2pvQGuhAjPXXahbj_NLaY_oxBH5GNT-CzsvgK-9xQsVNplhxyVNry6msdm0m-07MVv3uzCHXteOrQCVv-22g/s1600-h/mybloglog-terminated%25255B5%25255D.gif"]mybloglog-terminated[/a]I was facing blog load time issues this week so I started looking at codes that were causing the problem. After a lot of trial and error I finally found the code responsible for slowing down the site load time. It was the code snippet provided by Mybloglog. I was confused as why it was behaving like this because being a yahoo service Mybloglog server’s should be fast in response as it is a social networking platform for bloggers provided by Yahoo. But then I read on Wikipedia that On February 24, 2011 Yahoo announced that the MyBlogLog service would be terminated on May 24, 2011. The code snippet was not causing problems till the end of July but it caused me great troubles in August. Since MyBloglog is no more so there is no use of keeping its code on your templates. Delete the code so that your blog may load at better speed.

Remove MyBlogLog Code From Your Templates

  1. Inside your templates search for track.mybloglog.com
  2. You will find it enclosed in a similar code like this one,

<script src='http://track.mybloglog.com/js/jsserv.php?mblID=2009033019163361' type='text/javascript'/>

   3.    Remove this entire code and save your template.

   4.    You are done!

Your blog will now load at a much better speed because now the browser doesn’t need to load or look for mybloglog code. Keep your blogs healthy and stay healthy. Peace out!. :>

Most of you might have observed that upon adding the custom like box, you often receive that the plugin can not be rendered with this and that parameters.[a name='more'][/a] This happens when you add our custom code and the Facebook new Like button code together in your templates. There is one simple troubleshooting solution which is.

Remove Facebook Like + Send Button

If you have added the like button combined with the send button then kindly remove them and replace them with the Facebook Like Button Optimized version that I am using at the moment.

To remove the Like + Send button read this tutorial,

  • Facebook [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/05/add-facebook-like-and-send-button-to.html" target="_blank"]Like + Send Button[/a]

Add The New Like Button Code

To add the Like button alone which loads fast and is much better then read this,

  • Facebook [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/06/add-facebook-like-button-below-post.html" target="_blank"]Like Button[/a]

Let me know if you needed more help. This works like charm.

Problems With Official Blogger App for Android Devices

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEfvXz0S6fiICxP1e8_qYOQDd8nR_kfT8uyzptK9CNXiS9ULpExM-qH7qUMVUlBufihxCJ7XLLg0gkWPr1Hw2x-Q9PQrbc_VA6y8a9lsiR6CPg9QwR1FQtjVWoSJ-sDa7uYuTOPzkH60k/s1600/blogger+android+app.png"]blogger official app[/a]

Here is what [a href="https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.apps.blogger" target="_blank"]people say[/a] about it:

"Constant force closing and sporadically re posts old entries.  "
"This could be great, but it re posts the posts again and again. That renders ..."
"Keeps republishing an old post every 30 min on htc wildfire s with newest ...  "
Also,
"If the re posting issue is not fixed soon than its going to meet the uninstall button. "
"Regularly force closes even when not running in foreground since latest update. "
"Either let me disabled notification or stop saying old articles are published over and over. Annoyed and uninstall "

Even after the update, the application seems to make problems. Another big concern is that the app doesn't allow to edit the posts that are already published before from desktop version. This is pretty awful. So in an all, this Blogger application isn't stable at the moment and requires huge attention from the programmers. To compete with the other cool blogging applications around like WordPress etc. Blogger really needs to put in their all efforts to make this app a success.
Hope a much better version will be out soon. And i wish when this app launches for iPhone its totally bug free

How To Remove or Delete Labels In Blogger?

remove-labelsAdd tags or labels to your posts is an important SEO step for letting spiders to better understand the content and categories of your blog. Due to unfriendly user interface of the Edit Posts section of blogger dashboard, most people find it difficult to remove, apply and add new labels to the posts. I was going to write a post on it but I have found an easy video tutorial created by Blogger team themselves. I am sure you will enjoy understanding todays tutorial via this video.

Disadvantages Of "Blogger Template Designer" Templates

The above class is the CSS code for styling the Header.  You can clearly see the variables indicated by the dollar sign ($) Now suppose if you wish to edit the background image of your header or change the border colours, font style etc. then how can you set the values when everything is in variables? Of course you can do that if you have some prior knowledge of web languages but this would be difficult to new bloggers.

  • The widget code is also programmed differently using Macro:param tags. See this code,

<aside>
          <macro:include id='main-column-left-sections' name='sections'>
            <macro:param default='0' name='num' value='0'/>
            <macro:param default='sidebar-left' name='idPrefix'/>
            <macro:param default='sidebar' name='class'/>
            <macro:param default='true' name='includeBottom'/>
          </macro:include>
          </aside>

This is the new way of adding dynamic tags to your widgets so that they could be edited directly using "Template designer". Previously the widget <b:section> tags were used which was easy to understand and replace as compared to this.

  • Further simple tags like <body> has been messed up into something like this,

<body expr:class='&quot;loading&quot; + data:blog.mobileClass'>

In all blogger tutorials we always mention <body> tag and it will now turn a headache for new bloggers to find the same <body> tag in the new template designs.

Conclusion:

In a nut shell as a web designer myself I can only advise you all to kindly stick to custom templates which are far better coded and optimized compared to blogger templates. With custom templates you have complete command over your layout coding and doesn't have to reply on the template Designer tool. You can apply all blogger tutorial tricks to your custom templates easily and can better implement them. I felt it important to discuss this topic as most of you were facing problems in applying the tuts and tricks. Hope this make things clear.

No Edit HTML Option In New Blogger Dashboard 2011?

Solution:

You can find an interesting trick of accessing the Edit HTML Page here -> [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/06/no-edit-html-option-in-new-blogger.html" target="_blank"]Access Edit HTML[/a]

So its highly advised to Blogger active users to kindly use the Tested version of Blogger i.e [a href="http://www.Blogger.com" target="_blank"]www.Blogger.com[/a] and not the Beta version. You can still design and edit your layouts with complete rights to edit the CSS, HTML. You can still add JavaScript and cool jQuery tricks to your blog and of course you can continue playing around codes as you always loved to do. I am as curious as you in finding updates related to this new question. I will keep you updated with all latest developments. Till then keep blogging and keep using our only beloved blogging platform, The Google Blogger! :>

IE8 Website Operation Aborted Error Finally Solved!

I am really glad I got rid of this extremely disappointing error which caused me great loss for a month.

Final Advise

If you really want to enjoy browsing the internet then please stop using IE and start using [a href="http://mozilla.com" target="_blank"]Mozilla Firefox[/a]. Mozilla is used by developers, designers and normal net surfers and it is best in every aspect. That's what I believe in.
