Keep an eye on your blogs Adsense Income

How many of you use the adsense widgets from blogger?? Most of the bloggers create therir own custom ad units and paste the html code in the blogger template or add it as an HTML template.All of you guys know that you can also add adsense from blogger.

Now here is the important part..

When you create custom adsense units at Adsense you tend to create channels and you make make so many channels and finally get confused with them..

Consider that there are different chanelled adsense ads on your blog. You can still know the total income that your blog generated(Sum of al the ad units on your blog).

This is how we do it..

Goto your Blogs DashBoard and choose the Monetize tab.

You will see something like this if you are there for the first time.

Now Choose for Customize Ads and you will be taken to a new page. If you are using custom adsense code generated from the adsense site then opt the last option in this new page as shown in this screen shot.

Adsense Below the post title in Blogger

Your blog earnings depend mainly on your blog's traffic and on your ad placement. One important place to place the ads is below the Post title. It will give more importance to the ads and there is more possibility to get clicks. This is in accordance with the Google Adsense TOS

I am personally using the same hack on this blog. You can see adsense ads below the post title on all my  pages.Ok now let us get into the details of how to set it up.

First of all login to your adsense account and generate ad code of optimum size..
Now copy that adsense code into the following box and parse it(you may not see the parser if you are reading my feed)

Copy off the parsed code..
Now login to your blogger account.
Go to Layout > Edit Html and expand the widget templates.
Find this piece of code
<data:post.body/>

Now add the following code just above that line.
<!-- BloggerPlugins.ORG Adsense Above Posts start -->
<b:if cond='data:post.isFirstPost'>
Put your parsed adsense code here
<br/>
</b:if>
<!-- BloggerPlugins.ORG Adsense Above Posts End -->

From now on you should have adsense below the post title. On pages with multiple posts(eg: home page, label page etc) , the adsense ads will show up only on the first post(i.e  below the post title of the first post). It wont show up on the other posts on the same page.So you are abiding by the Adsense TOS.

Background images for adsense ads

Update:Don't use this hack.. Making image backgrounds can be against the Adsense TOS. So just don't do it..
Hmm guys..Wanna add background image to yourr adsense ad so that it looks better..

Ok then here is the trick..

<table align="center" width="your_image_width" height="your_image_height" border="0" background="your_image_path">
<tr><td width="your_image_width" height="your_image_height">
<div align="center">
Put_Google_Ads_code_here
</div></td></tr>
</table>

Edit the above code properly as below..

Replace Put_Google_Ads_code_here with your adsense code.

Replace your_image_width with the width of your image

Replace your_image_height with the height of your image

Replace your_image_path with your image file's url

After editing put this code in the place you need your ads to appear(with background image)

When you choose the background colour and border colour in Adsense for content setup please try to use colours matching with your back ground image..
