PageRank is Not Important Says Google 2011

Unless you have quality content both your PR and Alexa are useless. Because with quality content you get lifetime quality organic Traffic. There are many blogs and websites with PageRank 6.0 in Buysellads directory yet they are not even earning a penny because they spent there great skills on ranking alone and under-estimated the value of good posts, content and shares and as a result ended their careers with hopelessness. My short personal experience says that if there is anything that matters more is Traffic. Writing on things that attract people is what I call blogging.

Below is a video by Google Software Engineer matt cutts where he is answering a question on Why aren't the Google Toolbar PageRank values updated more often? In the same video you will find the answer where he confirms that content is more important than PageRank.

Disadvantages of Pinging Servers With Windows Live Writer

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqSAzG59rY2hdTYp4yvDK0-7DZkcEcaZXSl2nBE00QzlKdc3tj8xXgx3vlfbEz-6J2yXHA5ZtMPZXE4ESIXPKF58QGsY6g0t9u-I9u3po4FKMhBuEsG-sHt1_ChYuj5mK4bC9JD1_56-g/s1600-h/PINGING-wlw%25255B7%25255D.gif"]PINGING-wlw[/a][a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/05/use-windows-live-writer-kick-blogger.html" target="_blank"]Windows Live writer[/a] offers an option where you can ping social networks and search engines whenever you publish a new post. Pinging is not a bad thing unless you do it frequently like 3-4 times a day. According to some previously asked questions WLW team has confirmed that the Ping function if turned on can put unnecessary burden on the servers that can cause you getting banned by search engines, blog directories and social networks. [a name='more'][/a]This can badly effect your search engine listings and social network repo if you are requesting an update request frequently from different traffic sources may that be search engines or social media networks. However if you want a special attention of search engines and blog directories for a selected post then you can do that by temporarily activating your Ping function as follows:

How to Ping Servers in Windows Live Writer?

Go To WLW Options menu and select Ping Servers as shown below,

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpm7vAdqGDCPW-p7Jy83TwrOsoQDIDZNXfjDOrgwJAYZdKCg6elVaBL8WOmJ5S65T5H9kXMEUcbkFqo9gL8jTl9ifjPw6wyw2LXzy8jxVyAI9kuSLrZOXlrZIzrDSi26wZHWVFrQvtBsY/s1600-h/image%25255B4%25255D.png"]ping servers[/a]

Check the box and paste the following pinging URLs inside the big box,

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2
http://ping.feedburner.com
http://rpc.icerocket.com:10080
http://services.newsgator.com/ngws/xmlrpcping.aspx
http://api.feedster.com/ping.php
http://rpc.pingomatic.com
http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2

The above URLs will ping technorati, google blog search, Feedburner, Feedster and most importantly pingomatic which will update dozens of directories about your latest blog update.

Please use this utility carefully and ping all these services only when you think that your post is not indexed or needs special attention. You can do this for unique posts 3-4 times a week but not daily. But don't be too afraid of using this tool, I use it too but when I need to. Stay safe and have fun. Peace and blessings. :)

Google Changed Search Results Format and Design

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg1AxAV5l2s7HNTLffNN0KMh9dBXzrXs-F6UdWKVgrOGYwOqNF6snaKDvr_OlkbEB5_2q-XfHdNCOehu2cSlJwPLrYyZxKWeuaxRbp8nilMYQJ5uG3QNpReJNYXG1lmSs3XIIY4E5UDyA/s1600-h/SEARCH-FORMAT%25255B2%25255D.gif"]GOOGLE SEARCH-FORMAT[/a]

June 2011 saw a rapid change in Google's development performance. We heard of Google [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/06/add-google-1-button-to-your-blogger.html" target="_blank"]+1 Button[/a], then the [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/06/google-1-button-will-start-appearing-on.html" target="_blank"]+1 Project[/a], the [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/06/1-report-stats-added-to-google.html" target="_blank"]+1 Metrics[/a], then Social Plugins tracking in Analytics and [a name='more'][/a]now just few days have past that the entire search format and appearance have been changed. Now the Webpage titles are immediately followed by Webpage URL and then Description in the last. Previously the webpage titles were followed immediately by description but now URL has taken a jump up. This signals towards the priority of Webpage URL over Page Description.

How can this change effect your Organic Traffic?

To be honest no one can give a confident answer except logical views. Every single move taken by Google has always put a drastic impact on web traffic and with the latest introduction of +1 recommendation plugin this shift in URL position can have a significant meaning.

What are the Design Changes?

Now you see a black navigation bar appearing at the top with all available search options. After the query is being submitted by the user, a left pane appears where you are given several search tools. An interesting new feature is that now you can view what information is been fed in Google every single second by clicking the latest Link under Any time option. You can also select a custom time range to search for specific data over a selected time period. All these new developments made Google to stand out once again.

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu9TX-E4eG5HBj8emhQyiX7fu8d2VNvKuYlgBhYkhjwqRxvJKZr2mdDUzZPDBAEeeSVdpLQXoRrZqPuSJw3umxHyXdyBffzr0so-8-dC1qny1fe0nH-5oEh1twIXQQgRsupx2tyoR5Rfg/s1600-h/image%25255B3%25255D.png"]Google navigation bar[/a]

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2la8hFHvYDohLtDTKvocqucTjD6FsQ5FfmPZeUV2PBafmyneJH6kznmfkI6zmuSjkfxfncUxlr3xNrMpW96C-e1_6yS_irwPBGUB-SpVsY8rEVQF-nAPDh9yGyEsob4YnU6BR1SKLZS0/s1600-h/image%25255B7%25255D.png"]Google Left pane[/a]

and not just that! Looks like even Google designers are bored with the old search button and therefore they changed it into a attractive light blue one,

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPjNpSzxOjXnmI_WRBPXxOc7rXM1rAzZ4wBsjXSyCxYSIrfFWOvLtjPi4KKutZTSx-CDwqqqZal1vdY0RUsdHEPPoRr-_Bc3N4YX-48qe83loHXDQiR71IcevH27kmhCFLfXQFo4YFdvI/s1600-h/image%25255B11%25255D.png"]new google search button[/a]

What do you have to share?

Keeping the design thing aside, what do you think the sudden change in the position of Page URL and Page Description can cause to search engine ranking criteria. Can it effect your +1'd recommendations?

Guest Posting at MBT- A True Rocket Ride!

This is a success story published by our Guest Poster Hassam Ahmad Awan
PAgerank 2011

Make sure that you have some basic writing skills and does not make grammatical errors. And further with more and more writing, your language would get polished. The better your article would be the more readers would like to visit your own blog. But this doesn't mean at all that your blog would get to the highest point without any of you own effort at your own blog. You need to follow the basic SEO techniques at your own blog too.
Plus as they say "Content is king" makes quite a sense. If people would visit your blog through  MBT, they would certainly be needing something to read, and you got to make sure that you grab that moment. In an all, I would definitely recommend writing at MBT. You may want to read [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/06/how-to-write-and-submit-guest-post.html" target="_blank"]How to Write and Submit a Guest Post[/a], to get to know about Guest posting.

Add Nofollow Tag To all Download, Demo & Iframed Link Pages

This is a short informative post for all those who share Download files or any other web related resources with there readers. A PageRank by Google is an important rank that determines the importance of your website or blog in the eyes of search engine spiders. A spider is a robot that is responsible for crawling your content and indexing it on data bases. Since the entire infrastructure of GOOGLE PR is based on quality backlinks therefore it very important that you should flow the [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2010/01/how-to-inter-link-pages-smartly-to-flow.html" target="_blank"]PR juice[/a] wisely and do not waste it on useless links.  By useless links I mean websites that use login structures or IFrames. An I framed webpage is not crawled by spiders because it can not access it. All social media networks have a login algorithm that allows visitors only with a unique password. When you link Facebook Profiles, Twitter or Blogger Profiles or any other social network, make sure you add the nofollow tag to them. Further you must also add a [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/06/add-tag-to-all-links-in-table-of.html" target="_blank"]nofollow tag[/a] to the links in your table of contents. If you write tutorials like me and share a DEMO link or Download Link then make sure you tag them as nofollow because linking files and hosting websites will drink all your PR juice and will slow down your PR progress on next PR update.

There is also a noindex tag which should be added only when you feel that even the text of the link is not important.

How to add Nofollow Tag in HyperLinks

A link has this HTML code,

<a href="http:xyz.com">Download</a>

To make any link nofollow just change the link in this way,

<a rel="nofollow" href="http:xyz.com">Download</a>

To add a noindex tag which is not very necessary do this,

<a rel="noindex" rel="nofollow" href="http:xyz.com">Live DEMO</a>

now your PR is more healthy and safe.

What links should be kept dofollow

UPDATE: A detailed post has been written please read: [a href="http://www.blogger.com/"]When should you nofollow links[/a]?

Always make it a habit of linking well established websites and services. If you are sharing a Facebook Plugin then feel free to link the developers page else if you are sharing a news on AdSense then you must link to the AdSense blog and openly mention things that matter with relevant source links. This will increase your BLOG reputation in the eyes of robots and will help you you rank higher. Blogs become authorities by linking relevant stuff and avoiding useless iframed pages.

Even I have done the plunder of linking demo and download links a lot but the better you know the good it is. I hope this little info may help you preserve and protect your newly gifted PRs and may help you to utilize it wisely. Wish you all the best.

Google Banned all co.cc domains - A Step-Forward against Spam

This is a guest post by Bhavesh Mohanlal Pamecha from [a href="http://www.plentyofebooks.net/" target="_blank"]Plenty of Ebooks[/a]
[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpWRM5zv8VtbCtFEO2Xt9DbcAvqFOodeJtgZx8VV-Wo7q8fhoiTzyenrG45ScyExBZ1bmKZSUDIDaWjJmG6-61WT1RDuNLOxw_174qOpjPAuzxY7kwvP9h-ebcszlrJK5iZulVYMBvuCg/s1600-h/_co.cc-google-spam%25255B7%25255D.gif"]Google Banned .co.cc[/a]The title says it all. Google has banned and penalized all the sites which used a co.cc sub-domain. [a href="http://www.co.cc/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"]Co.cc[/a] is a free domain name registrar which offers sub-domains in bulk.
Due to increase amount of web spam and poor quality sites and especially with all of the recent criticism towards its search engine Google was forced to take a serious action to fight against web spam and help protect its users with good quality links. Check the screen shot below for the proof. [a name='more'][/a]

.co.cc banned by Google

or this: You can see that not even their homepage is being indexed.

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgguWnHdcCmGHnjvseVWJCZ6L9DTEKZm4ZBwLtLs-RoUaJICAUnjkYiduSK7sYwARHqcF7PcQ_gCKrLkkD__1er1ns3J8sizZVYd0L4rxTerkX4jvDjlHdJ-XtA8ZZwoVhb6y5crQvxucM/s1600-h/image%25255B6%25255D.png"].co.cc banned[/a]

Matt Cutts, the Head of Google's Web Spam team, wrote on [a href="https://plus.google.com/u/1/109412257237874861202/posts/eanXpZKMDSf#109412257237874861202/posts/eanXpZKMDSf" target="_blank"]Google +[/a]

"First, a definition: a "freehost" is a domain that will let anyone register a site on that domain. There's lots and lots of high-quality freehosts out there (wordpress.com comes to mind)."
"We absolutely do try to be granular, but I wanted to mention that if we see a very large fraction of sites on a specific freehost be spammy or low-quality, we do reserve the right to take action on the freehost as a whole. I think most savvy search/SEO folks would understand this completely, but I figure it's better to over-communicate than under-communicate."

Matt Cutts also said,

"This is not a new webspam policy. Other parts of Google do similar things. For example, [a href="http://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot.com/2011/06/protecting-users-from-malware-hosted-on.html"]http://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot.com/2011/06/protecting-users-from-malware-hosted-on.html[/a] talks about "bulk sub-domain providers" (treat it as the same thing as a freehost) and they mention "To help protect users we recently modified those [malware scanning] systems to identify bulk sub-domain services which are being abused. In some severe cases our systems may now flag the whole bulk domain."

[a href="http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/user?userid=03856587199021041525&hl=en" target="_blank"]JohnMu[/a], Webmaster Trends Analyst, gave some advice on [a href="http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=10735eb11a40c0c8&hl=en_" target="_blank"]Webmaster Central[/a]  for legit webmasters owning a co.cc sub-domain.

"If you feel that your particular site is in line with our Webmaster Guidelines, I would recommend submitting a reconsideration request. Additionally, if you use a subdomain on a widely used domain name, and feel that your subdomain provider is not up to par with regards to preventing and handling abuse quickly - be it webspam, phishing, or malware - you may wish to look into ways of remedying that."

What should you do know if you are a .co.cc user?

The best is to sign up for a .com domain from a trusted domain hosting company like [a href="http://secure.hostgator.com/~affiliat/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=mustafastc-" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"]Hostgator[/a]. It will cost you less than $15/year but quality and reputation is guaranteed by them. Do give few bucks more but always go for quality. If you are really serious about blogging then choosing a .com domain is highly suggested.

What do you think?
Express your views in comments, whether this will be a boon or a curse according to you.

PageRank or Alexa Rank? Which One Is Important?

[a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2OhWscNb4LVxhGa6u0rryQ47O919caVK2Rd31tjznQQ4tXwJ3-Tr94A_sPvHypBHlIYw3OyWwfJoByxvzrRPe6x1PUTWNYH4uhdCpx5mVmeq53oEbvkr1AtuVXE8hEgVkBOs32AQG8Fo/s1600-h/alexa-or-Pagerank%25255B4%25255D.png"]alexa-or-Pagerank[/a]

Google Page Rank and [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/05/alexas-top-ten-websites-2011.html" target="_blank"]Alexa ranking[/a] are two different ways determine your site's performance. Here is a little description of the two,

Google Page Rank

Google Page Rank is a rank from 0 to 10. It is the way Google observes a website. It is mostly dependent upon how many quality backlinks the site has. However there are many other features that also count. Sometimes Google ban people from the ranking due to several reasons like copied content and black hat SEO tactics. . It is calculated from an algorithm (can be seen here :[a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank"]Wiki PageRank[/a]. )

Positive Aspects:

  1. A good way to observe sites performance as it uses quality backlinks as a major factor. Follows an algorithm (attach algorithm link here [a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank" target="_blank"]Wiki[/a]).

  2. Can ban websites with copied content.

  3. Ranked by the biggest search engine in the world i.e GOOGLE

  4. Mostly Page Rank is considered a major factor when buying or selling a site.

  5. Calculated by Google itself which is major site that sends traffic.

  6. Offers a toolbar named 'Google Toolbar' to check the Alexa ranking of a site

Negative Aspects:
Updated very late (3-4 months)
People can buy quality backlinks and get good Page Rank.
They do not provide a toolbar for their own Google Chrome.

Alexa Ranking

[a href="http://www.alexa.com/" target="_blank"]Alexa[/a] is a web directory and  provides free traffic metrics, search analytics, demographics, and more. Alexa ranking depends upon how many visitors you get daily.
Positive Aspects:

  1. Updated sooner

  2. Calculation is based on a dependable factor i.e visitor count.

  3. Offers a toolbar named 'Alexa Toolbar' to check the Alexa ranking of a site.

Negative Aspects:
You can use a software and get as robot visits to your site and increase your hit count.

Conclusion:

Observing both the two factors it is seen that none of them actually is a perfect way to describe the success of a website. Both of them have their pros and cons. However PageRank gives an idea of how popular a website is in internet in building reputation and Alexa gives an estimate idea of how much traffic a website is receiving. In short both are important to receive handsome sponsorship and attract tons of Advertisers.

Facebook Like and Send Button In 108 Languages

The only part of the code that you will need to change is the language code en_US . Replace it with your local language code may that be Spanish, Urdu, Hindi, Turkish, French, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic or Romanian.

If you are using the Iframe version then you need to include a locale parameter with the proper country code in the src URL. For Example,

src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?locale=en_US&..."

Again you need to replace en_US with the local code.

PS: To accommodate different languages you will also need to change the width of the button.

Add "NoFollow" Tag to all Links in Table Of Contents

UPDATE: Please ignore this post and read this instead [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/08/never-tag-internal-links-with.html"]Never Tag internal links as No follow[/a]

nofollow-tagOne of the biggest mistakes that almost everyone does is not properly applying Google's webmaster guidelines while optimizing blogs. Almost on all blog hosting platforms, bloggers create a page where they add all the Post links so that the visitors may find it easy to navigate their site. It is a good thing but unknowingly you are risking yourselves into keyword spamming. In 2003 Google mentioned it clearly that a single page can contain no more than 100 links else the website will be penalized. That condition though is removed by Google but it is still recommended that the number of links on a single page should be kept as low as possible.  However if you still wish to add thousands of links on a single page for better site navigation then you must nofollow them. Confused? Follow up.

What are the Disadvantages?

Take an example of these two pages at our blog :

  • [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2008/03/blogger-tips-and-tricks.html" target="_blank"]Blogger Tricks[/a]

  • [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2008/01/blogger-widgets-and-plugins.html" target="_blank"]Blogger Widgets[/a]

You will find many links there but all these [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2010/01/how-to-inter-link-pages-smartly-to-flow.html" target="_blank"]internal links[/a] are tagged as nofollow. This is an important SEO strategy to keep you blog optimized. Google spiders give a lot of value to hyperlinks and some even say that whenever a robot sees a link it enters automatically into that page to index it. Suppose you have added too many internal links on a single page without the nofollow tag. When the robot indexes that page it will be confused with too many links pointing to different subpages of a common domain. As a result your page will become doubted. The robot will treat that page as one where you are trying to linkback all your pages into to distribute the PR. You won't suffer at first but when you continue adding more links, your search engine reputation will keep on dropping.

Most experienced bloggers have experienced a PR drop from Pagerank 5 to 4 and PR4 to PR3 or even PR6 to PR3 ( I have seen them myselves with all domain names in my mind but can't disclose them) This happens because as soon as you reach PR-4 or PR-5 the indexing and crawling criteria for your blog takes a more serious turn. Your pages will be more better crawled and indexed but with more a more serious eye from the robot.

What is a No Follow Tag?

In easiest terms it is a small HTML code that tells the search engine robots not to crawl the link. This tag locks the link and robots treat the link more like a text without caring where the link points. The linked will not be crawled but indexed. The Text will still be stored in Google databases. The Page to which the link points will get no PR benefits.

This tag looks like this,

rel="nofollow"

How To NoFollow All links In Table Of Contents Page?

A link looks like this,

<a href="htpp://xyz.com">LINK TEXT HERE</a>

To make the link nofollow just add the nofollow tag before href like this,

<a rel="nofollow" href="htpp://xyz.com">LINK TEXT HERE</a>

Do this for all your links and make your blogs and pages [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/03/best-seo-tools-to-optimize-your-blog.html" target="_blank"]better optimized[/a]. Hope this info proves helpful to most of you. Rest God knows best. Peace and blessings.

Optimize Blog Post Titles Using H2 Tag - Increase Traffic

OPTIMIZE-POST-TITLESHeadline tags start from H1 and go up to H6 in decreasing order of size. They play immense importance in your blog template optimization. Just as I earlier explained that a [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2011/01/how-to-write-search-engine-friendly.html" target="_blank"]search engine robot reads your content[/a] just the way a human reads it. Headlines, bolded and highlighted texts draw attention. By default all blogger templates are designed such that the H1 tag is given to Homepage Main Title, H2 is given to Blog Description or Header dates, sidebar headers and H3 is assigned for post titles. Whilst the fact is that your Post titles are second most important part of your blog after the main title. Sidebar titles and Post description are peanuts in comparison to your post titles.

[a name='more'][/a]

Its your post titles that ping search engines on an update and are indexed and crawled by search engine robots. In SEO the post title is referred as the KING whiles post content is referred as the QUEEN. So if the king is treated with H3 tag instead of H2 tag then I guess you must re-plan your Traffic campaign.

Changing Post Tiles Heading Tags In Blogger

To change post titles default H3 tag to H2 heading Tag then follow the steps below,

  1. Go To Blogger> Design > Edit HTML
  2. Backup your template
  3. Search for .post h3
  4. and replace it with .post h2  (keep replacing that for all occurrences of .post h2)
  5. Then search for,

<h3><data:title/></h3

and replace it with this,

<h2><data:title/></h2>

    6.  Save your template and Congratulations for the smart change! :>

In my next post I will discuss what heading tags you should use for headlines that you use inside the post body. I am sure this change will bring a positive change in your web Traffic inshAllah. Peace! :>

Compress Images and JavaScript To Speed Up Site Load Time Part 2

Image Compression

My next step is to compress my images. Save all of your blog’s images into one folder, and go to [a href="http://www.smushit.com/ysmush.it/" target="_blank"]Smush it.[/a] This is an image compressing tool made by Yahoo. Upload all of your images, where they will be compressed, and download them in a zipped file. You can then re-upload them to your blog. Both techniques shown so far will decrease your page size and loading time by at least 30%.

JavaScript Compression

Your next step is to compress all of your JavaScript. Please go to [a href="http://jscompress.com/" target="_blank"]JS Compress[/a]. Upload your JavaScript, have it compressed, and re-upload it to your webpage.

Conclusion:

We have covered all of the major aspects of reducing page size. There are more minute things however, which are covered in the web apps and MBT post listed below.

  • [a href="http://www.mybloggertricks.com/2009/11/11-useful-tips-to-reduce-your-blog-load.html" target="_blank"]12 tips to reduce your blog's loading time.[/a]

If you really want to take it to the next step, then you can download [a href="http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/" target="_blank"]Y Slow[/a], which is an app by yahoo, which analyses how speed optimized your webpage is, and tells you how to reduce your loading time.
Another website to check your loading speed is [a href="http://www.pingdom.com/" target="_blank"]Pingdom Tools[/a], or just using Google Webmaster Tools.

If you find any other good/better services, or have any questions or concerns, please leave a [a href="#comments"]comment below[/a]! Hope this little help proves helpful to must of you. :>

GOOGLE VS YAHOO - THE TWO STRATEGIES

google-vs-yahooIf one looks around, he may found two different styles of working - one organizing ways of getting in the market which sometimes makes Google superior than Yahoo . everything in a big pile and leaving it to you to sort out and find what you need . In other words , gathering everything under one roof . Next approach , gathering neat piles of everything . Putting in front of you what you actually want . Google and Yahoo work with the above mentioned styles respectively . Along with this , Google and Yahoo! have entirely different Many of the Yahoo fans wont like this , i know! :P

I studied briefly the statistics , the proactive approach Google and Yahoo take and the way they market their firms . While studying it all , I found one thing very clear everywhere - Google is a developer and Yahoo is a user . Yes .

[a name='more'][/a]

Lets have a look , how :

Yahoo's Strategy So Far:

yAHOO STRATEGYLets talk about Yahoo side of the story first . Yahoo has always believed in partnerships in order to drive traffic . In 2006 , as we all know , Yahoo made a $1+billion bid for Facebook . It was one of the most crucial steps for Yahoo! to drive public through a social networking site .  But unfortunately , Yahoo didn't make it at the end as Microsoft had offered a more powerful amount of money ($40 billion that is ) :P

Yahoo had always been aware of the fact that it cannot develop a social media website to counter Google's products , and that is why , Yahoo created partnership with social media sites . In 2009 , Yahoo announced a sort-of-connection with Facebook Connect by integrating it in its popular web properties . Through this , Yahoo would be able to get traffic generated by sharing articles and other things on Facebook.

Moreover , Yahoo has also been a partner of Twitter . Yahoo gave users the feasibility to access Twitter from within Yahoo . So we see that Yahoo instead of competing with the social media , believes in partnering with them so as to generate traffic through them .

Google's Strategy So Far:

gOOGLE STRATEGYNow lets discuss Google in detail : Google has always been focusing on developing things on its own e.g Google Buzz . Google has focused on technology unlike Yahoo ,  who believes in partnership . Doesn't it look more like Development vs Partnership ?  Mind taking a look ?

In Oct 2006 , Google buys YouTube . Same year ,  2006 , Yahoo and eBay formed a partnership . In 2008 , Google launched Google Chrome . The very next year , 2009 , Yahoo formed a search partnership with Microsoft . Later in Feb 2010 , Google came up with Google Buzz  . Same year , Yahoo and Twitter formed a partnership . Moreover , Google is launching an application Google Wallet this summer .  While , there are no latest updates of Yahoo (of this summer) in my knowledge .

So you see how well-planned Google has always been . Always taking a very calculated step in developing applications which always grabbed the attention of people , while Yahoo continued on partnerships . Google's strategy is continuously succeeding since the launch of Google Buzz because it is one of the most complete product Google has presented up till now . As compared to Yahoo , Google has developed better technical products in a short duration ( Buzz , Chrome , Wallet , Android  etc. ) . Plus , Google is working more on smartphones now , which is going to be the next biggest target for searching .

To conclude , I would say that COMPARING the two firms is really difficult . I and you all can never judge just on the basis of search engine results that Yahoo is better or Google is better . It all relates to the strategies they follow . And they have entirely different strategies . Neither company's strategy or direction is wrong . Its just that they need different social strategies to succeed .

How To Make a Video Popular In YouTube?

[a name='more'][/a]

YouTube Statistics 2011

YouTube is the fastest growing video sharing website with the largest number of viewers all around the world . Lets have a look at the YouTube statistics :

The YouTube statistics ( [a href="http://www.youtube.com/t/press_statistics"]http://www.youtube.com/t/press_statistics[/a] ) as of February 2011 are:

Why was there a need to mention all the above statistics ? I mentioned the above so that you may take a sensible decision while uploading your video on YouTube just to grow your traffic . Just to let you know , there is a dire need of taking some sensible steps to grow your traffic via YouTube . So here we go :

1- First things first : Video Ranking & Views!

What is the use of your video if it doesn't have a good ranking ? Oh wait ! How can you increase your ranking ? Do you even know that ? So what can you do to increase the ranking of your videos . Well , as many subscribers your video/channel has ( consequently views ) , the more easier it will be to increase your ranking . Get as many likes and views as possible. ASK AND ENCOURAGE your readers to leave comments ! And reply to their comments . If everything is played perfect then naturally your number of subscribers will increase which is what you must pay more attention to.

2- Keep Video Titles Keyword Specific

You need to work on the video titles . Your title should be fitting and interesting . Titles with keywords that people are searching on will get more views. You shall put your keywords that will make your videos rank much better. Firstly , the keywords should be used in the video title , and then use them twice or thrice in the description of your video . In a nutshell , make your video titles easier to search . Understand the chemistry of the user ! Include as many specific keywords in your title and description as you can.

3- Comment On Other Videos With a Linkback

Next, comment on others' videos and leave a comment including a link to your video . Make sure you do it now . Got it? And if your comments are liked by the viewers , they will probably check your profile . Consequently , your videos too! :D

Now that’s the time when you add new people to your circle , by watching and commenting on videos of the people who are doing the same for you . This is the crucial stage as the number of views of your video increases resulting in an increase in your social media traffic . I hope it explains well enough .

4- Next make video responses

The next important thing you ought to do is to make video responses – Yes , video responses . Just go through the videos with pretty good high rankings and views . Make a video response . Why ? Because you are a newbie , and they are professionals , don’t care about how your response looks like .You just need to jump into their regular viewers . In this way , you will have some traffic driven to your videos . Again , as I mentioned earlier ,this will result in an increase in your viewers .

5- Video Time Duration

Keep in mind that the duration of the video should not be much longer . 3 minutes are perfect to present your idea . However , continuously ask the viewer to visit your website :P
This can be done by placing your logo or URL at the beginning of your video .

6- Choose Suitable Time To Upload Your Videos

Ever gave it a thought or just posted your video at any time ? If I post a video at 4 pm ,I don’t expect much views ,because no one is that free to watch my video at such a busy time . So yeah ! Be careful about the posting time . Instead , choose a suitable time to post your general video in weekdays . No one would like to sit back and watch advertising videos on weekends .

7- Create Better Quality Engaging Videos

Make sure your video is engaging . Plus , it should be informative so that the viewer completely indulges in the video and watches the complete video . Do not just present , present and present your idea in the video . Let people indulge in the video by making your video exciting and learning .

Your video should be a one which can grab attention of the viewers. Your video should have an appropriate colour scheme – Don’t go on recording your videos in bright pinks , purples etc.  Instead , cool yellow or blue would do . Keep suitable colours .

8- Make Your Videos Viral

And now , putting aside everything mentioned above , have you wondered how to promote your video in order to get traffic on your website? Well , make your videos viral , spread them to as many websites as you can . But make sure that the quality of your video is good

9- Have Patience

Last but not the least ; always take a proactive approach before planning to post your video . Your videos wont be successful just in a day . It will take a LOT OF time , so be patient . Your ranking will increase slowly .

I really hope that the points mentioned above can help you achieve your goals . Comments and suggestions are welcomed!

How To Write Search Engine Friendly Blog Post Titles?

seo Nearly 80% percent of the traffic that you receive from Search engines depends on your Post title. Titles are termed as second to Content. Content is surely the King in SEO terminology but Titles follow just after in priority. If blog authors dedicate a minimum of their attention towards how they write their blog post titles then I believe there is nothing else left to optimize. Search engines need a reason to rank you higher in a particular topic and you must know how to provide them with a good reason. Learning SEO is the simplest yet the most important thing when it comes to earning Online and we all should know how to make proper use of this art. So lets look at some useful tips that have always helped me and thousands others.

What is an Optimized title?

An optimized title is one that succeeds in drawing maximum attention of search engine robots towards itself. The simplest way to understand how to develop good SEO skills is to treat search engines like humans and take their likes and dislikes as those of humans. Using this approach here are some of the things that you must know while writing a title. And again its not a philosophy subject with thousands of confusing things to remember. I am just sharing few tips that work and make sense. The three tips below are more than enough to understand what exactly is a search engine friendly title.

  1. [a href="#keyword"]Use Google Keyword tool to analyze Keywords[/a]

  2. [a href="#titlelength"]Keep the Title length to 66 characters[/a]

  3. [a href="#attracting"]Make your title Attractive![/a]

[a name="keyword"]1- Use Google Keyword Tool [/a]

The above title is attracting, contains three keywords i.e Search Engine Friendly , Blog and Post titles with an attracting How-to start and question mark (?) at the end of the title and all this count a total of 53 characters. That's how you hit three birds with one stone!

Analysis,

  • The word websites in the first title is useless for me because this post is for bloggers only and they will often write blogs while searching a query instead of websites.

  • The words Learn, best tips are less effective and not well organized compared to the keywords used in the second title.

  • The first title uses no question marks or good starting keyword while the second does. Exclamation marks (!) and question Marks (?) will always entice the searcher to click, and visit your website over your competitors.

I don’t need to add anything more here because you all are genius enough to apply the common sense and make things more smarter, stunning and intriguing.

Summary

This is what you always need to do while writing highly optimized and attractive Post titles,

  1. Always analyze your keywords using Google Keyword tool.

  2. Spell your words correctly and keep School Grammar in mind

  3. Write Short titles with one or two keywords

  4. Always Keep title length less than 66 characters

  5. Make your title attractive to both robots and readers by adding attention-drawing phrases and symbols. Use  words like How to, Best tips, Top 10, free, easy etc

  6. Always try to end your title with a question mark or an exclamation mark when necessary.

On my next tutorials I will share some important tips on how to optimize the opening paragraph of your articles/posts and will share some secrets of mine. I have also not discussed some more basic things related to title URLs in today’s post because I don’t wanted to make things difficult and we will surely discuss it on coming posts. Till then I hope you will find it really useful and I just hope you learnt something new today. Peace and blessings! :d

What catches a reader’s eye is how you win his interest from the starting intro Para and what catches a search engine robot’s attention is how you choose good keywords. So how exactly we do this. The tips are simple,

Start your Paragraph with an old story. i.e Link previous posts that may be related to the new one or link important tools and related websites. If the post is a unique one and has no relation with your previous posts then simply give some background story of it with a latest rumor related to it. Try drawing reader’s attention and let him believe that this post is not just an ordinary one.  Use [a href="https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal" target="_blank"]Google Keyword tool[/a] and choose the best words for your intro.

Advantages:

  • Correct Keywords will attract robots more and more.

  • With back links to Older Posts, their importance (PR) in the yes of robots will significantly increase.

  • With an old story and link to previous posts, readers will get interested in the post.

2-   Always Add an Intro Image

Add an intro image and align him at the left of your intro paragraph. Tag the image with proper keywords that may describe your post content. For example in the intro image of today’s post I have tagged the image in this way,

< img alt="Search Engines Love" src="Image-Link"/>

Advantages:

  • This way you will drive traffic from Google Images too. Tag also all other images  that appear in your posts with relevant keywords but don’t tag them with same keywords again and again. Be versatile.

3-  Add Anchor Tags To Important Sections Of Your Post

Divide Your Articles/posts into sections and link each section using an anchor link. Links do surely play more significant role than a plain text. The more you tag your posts with links the better it is. Anchor tags to each separate portion of your post will force the robot to crawl and index your posts more deeply. In fact engaging a robot more into your content is like seducing it with your play of words!

Advantages:

  • Your content will be crawled and indexed better and not overlooked.

  • This technique helps you to win over your competitors. Few months ago MBT blog was ranked 7th for the keyword “Blogger Tricks” and today it is ranked the third. See it for yourselves,

4-   Add h4 and h5 Tags

UPDATE:  Since We have recently updated the structure by adding H2 Tag to post titles so now instead of H4 use H3 and instead of H5 use H4. Rest everything remains the same.

What do we read and give importance first when we read a Newspaper? Of course the Headlines! Similar logic does apply to Headlines that appear in our posts. Readers and Robots attraction is greatly drawn by the HTML  Heading tags. Heading Tags have more importance then a normal plain text. The largest size and most important Heading tag is the H1 tag and this tag by default is added to your Blog Homepage title in [a href="http://blogger.com/" target="_blank"]Blogger[/a], next comes H2 which is added to Blog Description and the H3 which is added to Blog Post titles and what is left are H4 and H5 tags. So you must make use of this golden opportunity. The Blue headline text that you always see in my posts are the H4 tags and the green ones are the H5 tags in descending order of importance. As shown below,

Advantages:

  • These tags will highlight important sections to robots and Readers

  • Again an edge over your Competitors!

  • More chances to get better indexed!
